A STRONG TEAM

FROM EARLY TO LATE – ROBUST FRUIT NOVELTIES

Robust varieties make cultivation easier for the grower, as the use of plant protection products can be significantly minimised through the conscious selection of healthy varieties. But factors such as regular yields and storability, taste, ripening time (etc.) also play a central role in variety selection.

Whether summer apple or late variety, new in the Artevos assortment are these four apple varieties which, besides many advantages, have at least one thing in common: they are scab-tolerant!

ALLEGRO[S]

This aromatic and robust early apple already ripens at the end of July/beginning of August. It is particularly eye-catching due to its attractive, bright red skin. In addition, it shines not only on the skin, but also through its high degree of robustness against diseases such as scab (multiple scab resistance) and mildew.

TRAMIN[S]

This early variety promises flavours like the Gewürztraminer of the same name: aromatic, spicy, sweet, but at the same time with a noble acidity. A very healthy summer apple that is also scab-tolerant (scab-resistant Rvi6) and only slightly susceptible to mildew. Tramin[S] ripens about a week before Gala, in the South Tyrolean lowlands at the beginning of August.

Rusticana Apfel am Baum

RUSTICANA[S]

This late variety is characterised by its high health and robustness of the trees, which make it very easy to manage, as well as high and regular yields. Rusticana[S] is insensitive to powdery mildew, is scab resistant (scab resistant Rvi6), robust against Marssonina. The excellent, uniform, well-coloured fruits have a unique taste.

ORANGE CRISP[R] UEB 6481[S]

This late autumn apple variety has beautiful orange-red fruits with an excellent flavour and a firm, crisp, juicy bite. Orange Crisp[R] ripens towards the end of September and is tolerant to scab, mildew and even fire blight. Another plus point is the very good storability of the fruits, they can be kept in cold storage until March.

But also among the apricots, two robust fruit novelties have been found that together make a very good team, as they are good pollinators for each other:

MIA[S]

This early variety is robust against Pseudomonas and against cracking during heavy rain, which gives it a very high yield potential and good fruit quality. The fine texture and juicy sweet taste of the fruits also speak for this delicious fruit novelty.

MANERA[S]

This early variety is tolerant to blossom monilia and generally has a robust and strong tree. As a result, this fruit novelty also has a high yield potential. In addition, it has very attractive, orange-red fruits with a wonderfully sweet aroma.
